The City of Ottawa in partnership with Ottawa Sports and Entertainment
Group (OSEG) is working to redevelop and transform Lansdowne Park
into a world-class venue. The 37-acre site, located at the northeast
corner of Bank Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive (at the Rideau Canal)
has fallen into a state of disrepair. The vision for the renewed
Lansdowne includes:
revitalizing the existing stadium and arena for sports and entertainment
events
embracing the Rideau Canal with new expanded green space
showcasing the historic Aberdeen Pavilion
stand as a model of modern-day innovation in an urban form where
people can walk, cycle, shop, eat, be entertained, work, live
and play.
The Lansdowne project has three key components:
stadium – Civic Centre component
urban park component beside Rideau Canal
mixed-use commercial development component near Bank Street
As part of the proposed Lansdowne Partnership Plan, the City of
Ottawa, as owner of the property, would create a new urban park
through an international design competition.
Ottawa Sports and Entertainment (OSEG) is a group of Ottawa businessmen
(Bill Shenkman, Roger Greenberg, John Ruddy and Jeff Hunt). As part
of the Lansdowne Partnership Plan, OSEG would renovate and upgrade
the stadium and Civic Centre complex and develop a new mixed-use
area that could include stores, restaurants, theatres, housing,
a boutique hotel, offices and other commercial development.
